Bears’ Cave: This cave is named after the bear skeletons discovered inside. It features galleries of animals and castle-like stalagmites and stalactites. The upper level is open to visitors, while the second level is reserved for scientific research.
Scarisoara Cave: Located at an altitude of 1,165 meters, Scarisoara Cave is home to the second largest underground glacier in Europe. The entrance is through an impressive chasm, and inside you can explore the huge glacier, as well as stalactites and stalagmites that never thaw.
Ponor Gorges: This area is known for its spectacular and rugged lime formations, including the Flowers’ Glade and the Galbenei Gorges. It offers stunning natural landscapes and is located about 14 miles east of the village of Pietroasa.
Turda Gorges Nature Reserve: Not far from Apuseni Nature Park, this reserve features limestone gorges, caves, sinkholes, and 800-foot high walls. It offers hiking trails to Tureni Gorges, Ciucas Waterfalls, and Borzesti Gorges.
